The Role

Reporting to the VP/Director of Government Affairs, the Government Affairs Senior Associate will be responsible for executing GridMatrix’s government affairs strategy, turning it into polished grant applications, RFPs, press releases, technology accelerator applications, and other written materials. GridMatrix’s vehicular and pedestrian traffic analytic solutions are deployed in cities and are revolutionizing how transit agencies advance economic competitiveness, public safety, sustainability, and equity. As the Senior Associate, you will be responsible for communicating the impact a GridMatrix deployment can have in a community and how this impact supports each of these goals within the context of broader state, local, national, and global regulatory frameworks through written materials.

Key Responsibilities:

Generate Original Grant/Trade Missions/Accelerator Applications, RFPs, Press Releases, and Thought Leadership Articles

  • Draft, revise, and polish GridMatrix’s applications for grants/trade missions/accelerators, to RFPs, press releases, and through leadership articles with input from contributors spanning customers, private sector partners, government relations firms, policy organizations, GridMatrix senior executives, government affairs, and engineering leadership
  • Leverage existing written material as much as possible to drive efficiencies in the origination of new materials
  • Design quality assurance processes to ensure timely, accurate, and high quality submissions every time

Strategy & Thought Leadership Support

  • Support GridMatrix’s Government Affairs leadership and overall Government Affairs Strategy
  • Look around corners and identify how Government Affairs Strategy impacts commercial and engineering direction/execution
  • Proactively surface and brief policy changes and their impact on commercial opportunities to GridMatrix’s executive leadership 
  • Proactively identify relevant grants, RFPs, accelerators, and test-bed opportunities for GridMatrix’s solutions
  • Become a domain expert on the Infrastructure and Investment Jobs Act (IIJA) as well as competitive and formula grant funding. Map how GridMatrix’s products and features support IIJA funding opportunities and communicate this support to public stakeholders
  • Coordinate with GridMatrix’s Government Affairs Leadership, senior executive team, and engineering leadership to RFPs into new product features

Support Compliance for Transportation, Privacy Policy, Export, and Cybersecurity @ GridMatrix

  • Understand latest developments in the US & EU with respect to transportation policy (e.g. wireless standards)
  • Track all new transportation policies as the Federal and state level with the potential to impact Gridmatrix’s core business revenue channels and product
  • Privacy policy monitoring and compliance by operation region (e.g. GDPR, domestic state level policies)
  • Translating privacy policy compliance into product feature design and back-end architecture
  • Monitor compliance with respect to data privacy (e.g. SOC2)
  • Monitor compliance with respect to export regulations
  • Monitor compliance with respect to cybersecurity

Minimum Qualifications

  • BA/BS in relevant field
  • 3+ relevant YOE
  • Previous experience in public affairs, litigation, journalism, or other profession requiring high quality written products produced under deadlines
  • Deeply motivated to help revitalize American infrastructure, enhance public safety and equity, and reduce emissions

Desirable Qualifications

  • MA/JD/PhD
  • Experience in transportation
  • Experience at a public agency
  • Experience at a product-focused technology company

Position Description

  • Salary Range: $100-$150K+, commensurate with experience
