Senior Data Scientist - Position Overview

Executive Summary & Primary Responsibilities

The Senior Data Scientist is a full time role that will support the technical development and implementation of GridMatrix’s core products, including its customer facing dashboard and adaptive signal timing algorithms. The Senior Data Scientist is expected to use techniques from machine vision and perception to extract data from live video footage, find ways to use this data to optimize/tune object detection and classification algorithms, and to then use the results of those processes with applied statistical methods to calculate metrics of vehicular and pedestrian traffic flow. It would also be beneficial for the Senior Data Scientist to have experience with cloud hosting services for the streaming, processing, and storage of both unstructured and structured data.


Basic Skill Qualifications

  • 4+ YOE with object detection, classification, applied statistical methods for real world problem solving
  • Previous experience with machine vision based projects
  • Previous experience with data visualization for enterprise audiences
  • Previous experience with cloud based development
  • BA/BS from an accredited university
  • MS or equivalent experience in relevant field such data science, statistics, physics, or engineering
  • Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Signal processing
  • Programming Languages - Python, R, SQL, C
  • Fluency is both unsupervised & supervised learning models

Reporting Structure & Internal/External Collaboration

The Senior Data Scientist will report to GridMatrix’s VP of Engineering, and work closely with its CTO, CEO, and other members of GridMatrix’s technical organization, including other Data Science and DevOps engineering staff. In addition, the Senior Data Scientist will work with GridMatrix’s technical advisory staff, which currently includes an advisor for Autonomous Vehicle Technology, an advisor for Machine Vision, and an advisor for Machine Learning & Data Science.
The Senior Data Scientist will also work closely with GridMatrix’s external engineering development teams.


Research & Development

The Senior Data Scientist will participate in GridMatrix’s research and development activities. These will include the development of the company’s core intellectual property, as well as serving as a support for GridMatrix’s Principal Investigator as well as an independent contributor on successful grant opportunities. As a result of these activities, GridMatrix may seek to disclose resulting intellectual property in either professional publications or patent applications.


Grant Writing

The Senior Data Scientist will contribute to grant proposal writing efforts. These contributions will include the development of grant proposal content, preliminary data gathering, and leveraging internal and external resources as necessary to submit timely and comprehensive proposals.


External RFPs and RFQs

From time-to-time, GridMatrix may respond to requests for proposals (RFPs) and request for quotes (RFQs) issued by cities, states, or other municipalities. These RFPs and RFQs may include the opportunity for GridMatrix to supply the issuer with goods and services. Portions of these RFPs and RFQs may require technical descriptions of these goods and services. In these cases, the Senior Data Scientist may contribute to the development of original content to support GridMatrix’s timely and comprehensive response to the RFP.


Conferences & Travel

In this role, the Senior Data Scientist may be required to travel to support GridMatrix’s business needs. These needs may include both domestic and international travel to represent the company at industry conferences and demonstrations of its technology to prospective customers and other stakeholders.


Technical Requirement Development

The Senior Data Scientist will be expected to contribute to the production of technical requirements documents (TRDs). These TRDs will be used both to define product development and also as components of GridMatrix’s RFPs to candidate suppliers for goods and services. Not only will these TRDs allow GridMatrix to competitively source it’s purchases, they will serve as product development artifacts that can be used for future iteration and development.


Product Development Timelines

The Senior Data Scientist will be expected to contribute to product development timelines, including highlighting expected delivery dates and technical risks.


Equity Compensation

The Senior Data Scientist will be eligible to receive performance based equity compensation.

Executive Summary & Primary Responsibilities

The Senior Cloud Engineer is a full time role that will support the technical development and implementation of GridMatrix’s core products, including its customer facing dashboard and adaptive signal timing algorithms. The Senior Cloud Engineer is expected to build, maintain, and expand GridMatrix’s supporting product architecture/enterprise cloud service suite to support both its research and development efforts as well as its city customer engagements. It would also be beneficial for the Senior Cloud Engineer to have experience with optimizing structures for the streaming, processing, and storage of both unstructured and structured data.


Basic Skill Qualifications

  • 4+ YOE with cloud based architecture design and implementation
  • Previous experience hosting streaming/processing live video
  • Previous experience with AWS
  • BA/BS from an accredited university
  • MS or equivalent experience in relevant field such as computer science, systems architecture, data science, software engineering

Executive Summary & Primary Responsibilities

The Data & Display Integration Analyst is a full time position that will support the development and implementation of GridMatrix’s customer facing dashboard. These responsibilities will be primarily focused on the dashboard’s user interface and supporting data pipeline. The Data & Display Integration Analyst main responsibility will be to own this supporting infrastructure, including the function and format of its user interface and the underlying services on which it is built. The Data & Display Integration Analyst will be expected to be GridMatix’s internal expert on these services.

Over time and with additional experience and skill development, the Data & Display integration analyst should be able to actively contribute to the development of GridMatrix’s dashboard. These contributions may include the dashboard’s user interface, calculation methodology and approach for the metrics it displays, as well as mastery of the services that enable the dashboard’s primary functions.
